Dr. Guy Trudel

Dr. Guy Trudel is a Senior Scientist at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (OHRI), Professor of Medicine, Surgery and Cellular and Molecular Medicine at the University of Ottawa and Director of the Bone and Joint Research Laboratory at the Ottawa Hospital Rehabilitation Centre.

Dr. Trudel’s tertiary academic rehabilitation unit delivers rehabilitation care to people after polytrauma and serious/complex medical and surgical complications. For the past 25 years, his team has pursued clinical, laboratory-based and microgravity-based research on complications of immobility including joint contractures, fat accumulation in the bone marrow and anemia. Dr. Trudel’s team has published over 120 articles, and he has received over $6 million as the Principal Investigator and $23 million in Co-Investigations. His expertise will inform scenarios of co-exposure and microgravity in the space industry workforce. His highly collaborative space experiments are funded by the Canadian Space Agency.
