Dr. Odette Laneuville

University of Ottawa

Dr. Odette Laneuville is an Associate Professor and Director of Biomedical Sciences program in the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science at the University of Ottawa. Dr. Laneuville’s research focuses on uncovering the molecular mechanisms underlying physical inactivity and joint mobility restrictions. She utilizes high-throughput sequencing and functional analysis techniques to characterize gene expression in both experimental and human models. Her main objectives are to develop experimental models that reveal these molecular mechanisms and to translate her findings into strategies for restoring natural joint mobility.

She is actively involved in both clinical and experimental research, leading studies that investigate the biological responses to extended immobility (ex. space travel) and deconditioning at the molecular and genetic levels. Dr. Laneuville has received over $12 million in research funding and has authored more than 50 publications that have been cited over 2900 times, with an H-index of 23 and an i10-index of 40.
