Dr. Marie-Claude Gregoire
Canadian Nuclear Laboratories
Dr. Marie-Claude Gregoire is a recognized world expert in radiobiology and a critical leader in Canada’s nuclear health sector, currently serving as the Head of Directorate, Isotopes, Radiobiology and Environment at Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL). Her extensive experience, which includes managing R&D Health Sciences at the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO), positions her as a pivotal figure in advancing the nation’s radiobiology capabilities. In the BRIGHT-Canada program, Dr. Gregoire is a key collaborator whose involvement is essential for ensuring the program’s relevance to industry needs and for facilitating the transversal transfer and application of knowledge from academia to a professional environment.
Dr. Gregoire’s primary contribution to BRIGHT-Canada is her role in establishing a fully integrated pipeline of training activities in collaboration with CNL. This partnership is designed to ensure a smooth transition for trainees from the academic setting to industry, expediting knowledge mobilization and translation. Her leadership in the Isotopes, Radiobiology and Environment Directorate provides BRIGHT-Canada students with unparalleled access to nationally unique facilities and expertise, particularly through the 4–6-month CNL Internships. This hands-on training, guided by Dr. Gregoire’s strategic vision, is crucial for developing the highly qualified personnel needed to support the rapidly growing nuclear market and the deployment of new energy sources like Small Modular Reactors (SMRs).
