Dr. Susan Lees-Miller
University of Calgary
Dr. Susan Lees-Miller is a Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and Oncology, at the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary and a member of the University of Calgary’s Arnie Charbonneau Cancer Institute and Robson DNA Science Centre. Dr. Lees-Miller’s laboratory focuses on understanding how cells detect and repair DNA damage induced by ionizing radiation and chemotherapeutic drugs, with a specific emphasis on the roles of the DNA-dependent protein kinase catalytic subunit (DNA-PKcs) and Ataxia Telangiectasia Mutated (ATM) in the cellular response to DNA damage.
Her team aims to leverage this understanding to develop novel approaches to improve cancer treatment. She has published over 200 articles that have been cited over 25,000 times, with an H-index of 89 and an i10-index of 161.
